sunday funday!

absolutely beautiful day here in the 315. my bro and i sweated out some serious bass last night on 918 ackerman. it was a great start to the semester and made me feel all freaky cool inside. so even though my bike tire totally flatted out on me and am now stuck on the couch im feeling like a milli!
on that note, i wanted to show my love for life via the most appropriate medium...kick ass, sonic boom, tunes. the following tracks are definitely all about the love. pass them on to your boo or shawty and watch two become one. oh dip.

FOLLOW YOU - Future Islands
these guys have been on my top list for a while now. lots of good tunes that never fail to inspire.

IN THE MORNING - Junior Boys
this song is sexy as hell. that is all.

ANNABELLE - Hail Social
judging by all the remix work these guys have been getting people dig their sound. this is one of their originals that trounces all the remixes ive come across. im a fan.

LOVE BY TELESCOPE - The So Long Showdown
like, this guy is like totally my best friend. but for real, ive known this guy since sophomore year of high school. we spent countless hours in his basement listening to heavy metal, writing music, and killing brain cells. im basically in love. check out his myspace and graphic design company

TOO YOUNG (toxic avenger remix) - The Secret Handshake
thank you baby jesus for remixes. talented young guy but his originals are definitely not my style. the face melting, italian stallion known as toxic avenger takes this track and puts the bump to the grind

ROMANTIC (flosstradamus remix) - Walter Meego
here are two chicago area acts that have been receiving a whole lot of press lately. floss takes an already danceable track and gives it that club worthy bounce. be on the look out for both these acts in a venue near you.

Its been a while since I last posted. School started so that means classes to take and teach. Im really not complaining. Grad school is not easy but its better than the range of alternatives. Either way, there has definitely been some vicious posting activity lately and I want to keep this crazy train rolling. Check out my bro from buffalo Chae Hawk. He's one of the realest and hardest workers Ive come across. Show his myspace some love and be on the look out for this dude.

MEAL TICKET - Chae Hawk ft. David Miller

GAS IN THE TANK (SMASH remix) - Chae Hawk

Only If You Know You Live

Explosive! Bustin' loose!

( god bless you )

I tried throwing a Clipse vocal over a beat. Blast it:

dance music is fun

Its Friday. The flashing lights are beckoning. Make good choices.

The Smash Brothers are throwing bass comets at Vinyl (Armory Sq., Syracuse, NY) tonight and blasting some world beat at Metro (Westcott St, Syracuse, NY) tomorrow. Get your rage levels pumping people.

We deejayed last night. Zach sat on an invisible chair and cracked his dome on the wall. He is ok. His mixes were filthy good. But, please send commonsense.

Here are my enlightened suggestions as far as a weekend soundtrack is concerned. enjoy!

MOVE FOR ME - Kaskade feat. DeadMau5
who isn't a sucker for the sliced and diced vocals of a dance floor vixen? DeadMau5 is fun.

DIRTY DIANA (Dexplicit remix) - Michael Jackson
this bassline makes me want to shoot a rocket launcher... niche at its 4/4-to-the-face finest.

TECHNIK - Zoo Brazil

wOw! the builds in this track gave me a heart murmur. Prepare to wreck some dancefloors with this one. Check out Zoo Brazil here.

Friday Rap | I feel like bustin' loose!

It's Friday morning. Friday's are really cool. You should write a paper about it. Or, you could write a rap like this delightful old lady - spitting that hot fiyaaah! The video cuts off her last bit, but I'm pretty sure she goes on to suggest getting hyped on massive quantities of Rage-O-Rade© and then proceeding to bust loose.

Chill Mega-Bro, You Actin' Crazy

Seriously, if you invite me to play as your fourth man in a game of doubles (Badminton) and profess to be playing for fun, don't get your panties in a twist when I proceed to destroy you (with the help of your friend, no less) three games in a row. Maybe you misunderstood my tone when I was just fucking around . Maybe you're just a hostile mega-bro. Either way, bitch got raped like the symbolic representation of a robot dominating Mother Earth from behind.

Now that that's settled, check out this track from Brooklyn based Math Head featured on the latest XLR8R sampler CD (Incite 64). It will rock your mental loins. The Math Head MySpace has some additional tasty bits, too. Thrill Kill is hot and DreamTiger has that sexual magic. Chegggit:

Disclaimer:
If the gentleman referred to as a bitch in this post happens to be important, famous, or possesses "coattails" which lead to the promised land of fame and fortune, please (PLEASE) forgive me. Thank you.

Hands off my GOLD, Malaysia!

In other news, Chinese badminton superstar Lin Dan (dubbed "Super Dan"), grabbed the Gold Medal on home soil in the Men's Singles Badminton final at the 2008 Olympics. Oh, what's that you say? Who gives a shit about badminton? Wake the fuck up. The shuttlecock comes off the racquet at 200MPH when hit with skill. Might catch some feathers in your grill, son. You want some action? I'll see you at NYCB, sucka.

In mostly un-related news, I love this Jokers of the Scene remix of Water Lilly & St. Plomb's Shake A Leg. Released by Mental Groove and available at Boomkat, this track is immense. The guys do work. Some of that work was done through up and coming label, Fool's Gold. Check 'em out.

McCarren Park Pool / JellyNYC

Speaking of pool parties, yesterday at McCarren Park Pool, located in the uber-hip-neverland of Greenpoint Brooklyn, JellyNYC hosted what might be one of their last free events. As you might've seen in the New York Times, the powers that be are discussing the future of McCarren Park Pool which may include re-establishing the venue as a legitimate pool and subsequently ending it's run as one of the most celebrated music venues in Brooklyn. I could go on, but there's no need. The Times paid someone to do that.

Aesop Rock graced the stage with Rob Sonic at his side and DJ Whiz on the wheels (the illustrious El Producto decided to make an appearance, too) after introductory performances from groups Panther and Chin Chin. Where the music was decent, the atmosphere was great.

Imagine, if you will, a huge empty pool filled with good spirited, water-gun wielding kids (from toddlers to oldies) enjoying the hell out of this opportunity. On one end, there was an inflatable slip 'n slide (inflatable = no nut crunching) to rival the classic Crocodile Mile and, on the other, a huge court set-up for dodge-ball. Now, imagine all this decaying. Melting smiles, scattered remnants of a thousand pairs of Ray-Bans, water-guns confiscated, etc... That might suck. Sure a real pool would be cool, they always are, but I'd hate to see artists lose this venue as an outlet. More importantly, I'd hate to see my only chance of slipping AND sliding, in one succinct action, disappear.

POOL PARTY!!!!

My bro and I decided that this absolutely vicious forum needed a bit of diversity-a party of sorts-and what better way to solidify this new group effort than to break into a random pool and recreate various events that should have been in the Olympics. Last night was craziness. Caroline totally owned the dive contest based on her commitment to creativity and Nathan whooped some tricks in the free for all race. Eat your heart out Michael Phelps! Welcome to the party.

THE PARTY (LA Riots Party Dub) - Justice and Uffie
i hear this track all the time but LA Riots did it right...betta ask somebody.

THE BEACH PARTY - Hot Chip
here's a tune to get your mellow on

PARTY LIKE US - AC Slater
all I can say is that this track is straight fire

i want pizza.

stupid.. stupid.. stupid.. i should not have been up in the club last night.. sippin on that tequila. my guts were heaved. and there was no late night pizza in sight. wtf.

eitherway, the bro and I stopped by BAR last night in syracuse, where our good friend DJ AFAR was spinning a joint set with SILAS. We have worked with Afar in the past with our regular party at the Bull and Bear, TIGHT AND BAGGY.

Not many people there, but a good track list (primarily hip hop blends with some choice drum 'n bass mixed in for good measure) combined with $1 PBR and HighLife tall boys made for a swell evening. Also, while Zach and I were standing outside, we spotted the lead singer of legendary metalcore band, Earth Crisis. That was cool. We heard that they are in the process of recording new tracks. Big up to them.

Yo syracuse people, start buying your own cigarettes. seriously. im all out.

Check out DJ AFAR here.

Here are some selections:

(1) DELIVERANCE - Earth Crisis
this song jams from these syracuse greats.

(2) THESE BOOTS WERE MADE FOR WALKING IT OUT - Dj Metric
great b-more mash-up.. sure to get the club straight crunk.. even from the lames who insist on listening to radio jams. it has found its way into many of our set lists. thanks metric.

(3) EASY (LIKE SUNDAY MORNING)_Titts Remix - The Commodores (Tittsworth Remix)
while not a sunday morning, this recent track from Tittsworth really puts life into perspective.. and makes you dance at the same time.

damn that's vicious

this is the first of what i hope to be many posts on this totally vicious blogspot. i've never been much for online blogging. i guess i was so jaded by all the late 90s online journal sites that seemed too have been populated by all the bleeding hearts of my generation. those kids sucked. while i was busy killing brain cells with slayer and thc they were filling the internet with useless emotional waste. piss on that! over the last couple years my perception has really been changed (check out other smokin' blogs under the "players" section). so with the help of my bro i hope to contribute a lil' somethin' somethin'. so with that said, here's some tunes to get your "vicious" on...

(1) GIMME HEAD (dj ayres edit) - Dj Deeon vs. Three Six Mafia
same beat. Deeon has a way of making everything a little more offensive.

(2) STINKIN' RICH - Serani
came back from Dominica with this dance hall anthem. enjoy.

(3) YOU'RE SO GANGSTA - Chromeo
this song reminds me of the family guy episode where Peter has his own personal soundtrack. this would be the title track from my own vicious soundtrack.

Be Virtuous - And You Will Be Vicious.

this is our blog. it is vicious like a pair of raptors, killing stuff.

my brother, zach, and I live, attend graduate school, and grind on the streets of Syracuse, NY.

we are stealthily attempting to fashion a club scene from the remnants of a once internationally known hardcore movement (315!!!) and an isolated university campus. we regularly smash house parties, campus events, and club nights around the area.

at SOMETHING VICIOUS, we will blog choice mixes and club nights, including our own, as well as provide uninformed discussion and offensive images on such disparate subjects politricks, fashion trends, who-done-its and other miscellaneous what-nots.

check out our myspace here.

and, start thinking about this...

(1) NEGATIVE THINKING (SMASH remix) - The Death Set
one of our own.. a remix of baltimore dance-punk assault team, The (mutha fuckin') Death Set.
